Talking Trash: Throwing Out the Big Apple

Video Bodega Down Bronx

In the Bronx, bodegas are a way of life. You can get everything from snacks to supper. But who chooses what they sell? Why is their stuff so cheap? And where do all those chips come from? In 2008, students from New Settlement’s Bronx Helpers, CUP, and CUP teaching artist Jonathan Bogarín investigated bodegas in the Bronx.

You can watch the video online here.

Get your very own copy of the 28-minute DVD, packaged in a box illustrated by designer Jeff Lai.

If you are looking to acquire a copy for a library, or are interested in hosting a screening, please email info@welcometocup.org.
